 SKIN TREATMENT PREPARATION

> Before your treatment 

​

  • Avoid treatment, a few days prior & during your period, it may increase bruising and pain.

 

  • Do not have treatment, if you have had any recent infections, viruses, dental work, covid vaccination, flu, or any immunisations for 2 weeks prior.

 

  •  1 week prior: Stop or minimise from taking the following blood thinning supplements:

Garlic, Ginger, Ginseng, Gingko Biloba, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Turmeric, Omega 3 Fish Oils, Krill 0il, Flaxseed, Linseed, Evening Primrose, St John’s Wart supplements. Avoid Herbal and Green teas (no more than 1-2 cups per day). Avoid eating fish & tomatoes and drinking alcohol one week prior as well. As they may increase the risk of bruising.

 

  •  1 week prior: avoid the following medications to reduce the risk bruising.

Alka-Seltzer, Asasantin SR, Aspalgin, Aspro Clear (all aspro preparations), Astrix, Bayer Asprin, Cardiprin, Cartia, Codiphen, Codox, Codral Forte, Disprin, Ecotrin, Solprin, and Veganin. You may take Panadol if you must take any medication for pain.

 

  • 2 weeks prior: Anti-inflammatory medications must be ceased to also reduce risk of bruising.

Aclin, Advil, Aleve, Anaprox, Arthrexin, Arthrotec, Brufen, Bugesic, Butalgin, Celebrex, Crysanal, Diclofenac, Diclohexal, Dinac, Dolobid, Dynastat, Eazydayz, Feldene, Fenac, Ibuprofen, Indocid, Inza, Mefic, Mobic, Mobillis, Movalis, Naprogesic, Naprosyn, Nurofen, Orudis, Oruvail, Panafen, Ponstan, Prexige, Proven, Proxen, Rafen, Surgam, Toradol, Tri-Profen, and Voltaren.

 

  • If having volumising treatments to your cheeks, temples, under eye hollows, neck, decolletage, hands or skin hydration, PRP treatment and resurfacing laser (microlaserpeel, fractional), you may require numbing cream applied for 30 min prior. Please arrive before your scheduled time so it can be applied. Please let someone know on arrival.

  • Try to avoid wearing makeup if possible as it will need to be removed.

 

  • Do not apply fake tan to the treatment area the day before having laser of volumising treatments.

  • Hydrate and eat before your treatment.

​​

  • If you experience cold sores and having laser or volumising treatments to the lips or near that area, please take the 3-tablet cold sore prevention pack on the morning of your treatment.  Often known as (Zovirax, Famvir, Ezovir and Valtrex) Available at the chemist over the counter without a script. Take all 3 tablets together. Cold sores must be cleared for 1-2 weeks before the area can be treated.

  • Arnica tablets or spray (available at the chemist) can be used 3 days prior to treatment & after to reduce bruising, every 4 hours as prescribed, placed under the tongue.

  • Please allow 2-3 days before planning anything special as you may be bruised and/or swollen. You may require make-up or concealer for 7 days and on the rare occasion, up to 14 days.

​​

  • Do not plan anything special after laser, skin pen or volumising treatments and you need to be available in the rare event of adverse reaction. It is important that you can be available to be treated to avoid impeding healing. It's strongly recommended that you plan your treatments whilst taking the expected downtime into account. This is especially true if you are new to these treatments and have no idea what to expect. For example, do not plan a special date, wedding, holiday, or job interview that week.

  • Be considerate of others, 24 hrs notice is required if unable to make your appointment.

> During your treatment 
  • Prior to each treatment, a thorough, comprehensive consultation is conducted, and your budget, treatment options and plan are discussed.

​​

  • We offer several pain relief options for some treatments and will be discussed during a consultation.

> After your treatment 
  • Please allow 15 min or more to apply ice after your treatment, as it may reduce  any swelling.

 

  • Do not apply pressure or sleep on the treated area for 48-72 hrs.

​​

  • Do not place your face in massage cradle in the first few days.

 

  • For muscle relaxants: Do not lie flat or on tour side and sleep elevated for that night only.

 

  • Minimise kissing, whistling, smoking, using straws for treatments to mouth area for 48 hrs.

 

  • Do not apply makeup, moisturiser, or lipstick for 6 hours to treatment area.

 

  • Arnica tablets or spray can be used immediately after treatment to reduce risk bruising every ½ hour as prescribed for the first 4 doses then every 4 hours till bruising subsides.

 

  • Arnica or huradoid cream can also reduce bruising, apply after 6 hours to avoid infection risk.

 

  • Do not have waxing, facial or laser treatments for two weeks following your treatments. 

 

  • Treatments to mouth area tend to swell more than other areas, Swelling may or may not occur, everyone’s experience is different. It may take 24-48 hrs to settle but will usually look better within a week.

  • Avoid any excess heat, sunbaking, steam rooms, saunas, spas for 48 hrs.

 

  • Do not apply moisturiser or make-up for 12 hrs.

 

  • You may resume your skincare program the next day. Do not put on Retin-A, Retinols, Glycolic acid (AHA’s), Salicylic Acid (BHA’s), exfoliants, Vit C and acne creams/serums for 48 hrs.

 

  • Wait 24 hrs before intense exercise, swimming, or yoga.

 

  • Do not wear swim goggles for two weeks after volume replacement treatments around the eyes or cheek area.

 

  • Do not take blood thinning medication, supplements, alcohol (as above) especially ibuprofen (Nurofen) or aspirin for 48 hrs. Panadol is ok to take if you have any pain.

 

  • Please ensure that you any volumising treatments is injected 2 weeks before flying OVERSEAS to avoid complications caused by pressurisation in the plane.

 

  • Always call your practitioners mobile if any concerns after treatment.

 

  • Try to be considerate of others and give 24 hrs notice if you need to cancel.
