TECH NECK WRINKLES

Are becoming an increasing issue in younger necks compared to the last 5 years. Neck wrinkles are formed horizontally across the neck from pronged use or repeatedly looking down at your smart phone, tablets, other hand held devices and your computer at eye level. The neck is particularly susceptible to this type of repeated motion because the skin in this area is thinner, more delicate and has fewer oil glands than the face.

This extra pressure on the neck causes collagen and elastin fibres to break down faster and weaken the neck's muscular structure, making your neck more vulnerable to premature signs of ageing. Eventually causing sagging to the skin.

Sun exposure also promotes a faster breakdown of collagen, further exacerbating the condition. Other contributing factors can include sleeping positions, reading in bed, smoking and genetics,

Neck muscles, in their proper position, are designed to support the weight of your head, which is approximately 4.5kg. For every 15 degrees you flex your neck forward from a neutral position, the load on your neck muscles nearly doubles in weight. The simple act of staring down at a device can add anywhere between 4.5 -27 kilos of weight to the delicate neck area!

Treatments: Is usually a long process and involves a combination of treatments.

  • Apply retinol (vitamin A serum) at night to increase collagen production and help treat neck wrinkles. Use a neck cream formulated to treat the delicate neck skin. These products are often thicker and include ingredients that help promote collagen and elastin production.

  • Apply silicone gel patches to skin at night after the retinol as been absorbed into the skin.

  • Neck Exercises

  • Skin Needling

  • Laser (Pro-fractional/fractional, Halo, Microlaser Peel, Pear, BBL/IPL)

  • We can provide a thorough consultation in volume loss or reducing the appearance of wrinkles to the neck. Risks are involved and suitability is important.
